This page contains some examples of shader use in Jedi Academy.

This is not a tutorial as such ,but a page on shaders and textures i have made,i will however go over the little that i do know.

Shaders are used to make textures in a game behave in a particular way,Q3, JKA, JK2, used shaders, i have made some so my textures work better in game, most have "glow" values, but other effects are used too, such as making part of a texture transparent for example, or adding an effect for a force field.

You need basic text skills to make shaders , if you look at the shaders that come with the games using notepad you will see the code that's used, its not too difficult to work out.

Mainly if you like the way a texture looks in game then look at the shaders for it and check the texture itself to see if it has a "glow" for it, below are some examples of textures with a glow.

Here and below are two textures that i have made for the levels, on the imediate right you can see a panel that has 2 lights at the top and bottom, this panel is used mainly near doors.And to the far right is the "glow" texture, which the shaders use to make this texture give of light in game.

DOOR_PANEL_LIT DOOR_PANEL_LIT_GLOW

On the right is a panel i use to add more atmosphere to a section as the panel is red i can use red lights nearby to give some good effects, but here you can see that its not just light things that use a shader it can be any color that you want to show through the texture.

PANEL_RED_SLIM2 PANEL_RED_SLIM2_GLOW

This is a door texture i made, its not exactly like the doors on the deathstar, but it closely resembles one, i have to have a bit of artistic license.
